About The Artist
Hailey E. Herrera is a Texas-based artist known for her masterful use of watercolor, creating luminous and serene works that celebrate nature’s quiet beauty. Growing up in South Korea, she developed a deep appreciation for art at an early age. After immigrating to the United States in 1997, Herrera began painting watercolors in earnest in 2011, honing her skills to blend delicate washes, soft transitions, and intricate details.
Her work draws inspiration from the simplicity and elegance of Korean oriental painting, combined with Western watercolor techniques that emphasize light, atmosphere, and form. In this collection, Herrera turns her attention to wooded landscapes, capturing their tranquil essence through carefully layered watercolor on rice paper called Masa. Her ability to translate subtle details—like shifting light, dappled shadows, and the organic rhythm of trees—invites viewers to reflect on the serenity of nature. Her paintings have been exhibited in major museums, including the Bullock Museum and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
