The Pointillism Art of John Rodak at the Arts Council

The newest exhibit at the Arts Council shows off the artist’s patience and attention to detail in “Connecting the Dots: the Illustrations of John Rodak.”

John Rodak’s art is made up of many tiny dots in pen ink to make a larger picture in a style known as pointillism.

Rodak says his pieces can take anywhere from 20 to 40 hours, and when he started this journey back in the 70′s the options for tools were limited, but nowadays that isn’t the case.

Arts Council grant providing financial support for Brazos Valley organizations

The Arts Council of Brazos Valley provides an Annual Program & Marketing Grant for organizations that significantly contribute toward the promotion of arts, culture, and heritage.

 

For more than 45 years, The Arts Council Of The Brazos Valley has served the community by providing local organizations with financial support for projects that contribute towards art, culture, and heritage.

These funds not only provide assistance for the organization, but also draws neighbors to engage with the community.

“Divine Connections,” A New Exhibit at The Arts Council

A new exhibit at the arts council is on display in their hallway gallery that focuses on vivid and dreamy ideas, “Divine Connections” came from the artist’s journey with meditation and growth.

Artist Kevalon Taylor says she uses many mediums from acrylic paint to pastels depending on what her ideas call for. The pieces are based on personal life events and her desire to encourage viewers to stand out from the crowd.

“When people see this I really want to share my experience and my dreams and be able to help inspire people to become their highest selves,” Taylor said. “We’re supposed to express our uniqueness, and that’s what most of my art is all about.”

Celebrate the Arts with the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley

The former voice of Aggie Baseball Rick Hill will serve as emcee and the night will feature a sports-centric theme of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

The event serves as a way to recognize individuals who have made an impact in the arts in the Brazos Valley. They will also celebrate the two schools that competed at the State Marching Band Competition, College Station High School and A&M Consolidated High School.

Tickets are available to purchase in advance here.

Proceeds from the night will go towards programs put on by the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley.

The Arts Council takes visitors Beyond the Classroom in new exhibit

The Arts Council is displaying artwork of teachers from across the Brazos Valley.

Community members are invited to experience each artist’s distinct style and get to know the inspiration behind their work in the Beyond the Classroom exhibit.

“The entire exhibit features 23 different local Brazos Valley art teachers and of all sorts of mediums and styles from the collegiate level to the elementary level,” said Hailey Mallett with The Arts Council. “We’re just taking this chance to really celebrate our education in the Brazos Valley.”

Arts Council of the Brazos Valley names new CEO

Leslie Bowlin will join the ACBV after serving the past 10 years as the executive director of the Houston Maritime Center & Museum.

 

Her extensive background includes public relations, investing, and business operations, as well as chairing many high-profile and successful charity events with The Houston Symphony, The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Hospice at Texas Medical Center, and the UT Health Science Center. She has also served on several non-profit boards including The Fay School, Northwood University, the Houston Grand Opera, and UT Health PARTNERS.
