The Queen’s Film Society | Member Pick’d Flick: After Hours
“After Hours” is a comedic nightmare (but fun!) about a mild mannered office worker, Paul Hacket (Griffin Dunne), who ventures from midtown Manhattan to the bohemian district of SoHo at the invitation of an attractive woman (Rosanna Arquette) he meets in a cafe. Once there, among the artists and free spirits, his romantic hopes are quickly dashed as he loses his money, including cab fair to get back home, and finds himself dealing with an increasingly strange set of individuals in the city that doesn’t sleep. Martin Scorsese won Best Director at the 1985 Cannes Film Festival for this wild-ride comedy that’s now firmly established as a cult classic. Co-staring a constellation of great actors and comedians including Catherine O’Hera, Teri Garr, John Heard, Linda Fiorentino and, believe it or not, Cheech and Chong.
