Adult Art Class Series at The Arts Center | Watercolor Class with Claire Lewis
Tuesdays 6-8:30pm, February 3-March 24
About the Class: This class will be fun and instructional to anyone from beginners to practicing watercolorists. We will begin with loosening up techniques to practice the application of watercolor from wet-on-wet application, wet on dry, and dry brush. We will explore resist techniques, textures, and, how to use various brushes. How to choose the type of watercolor paper and weights for your project and tastes. Student artists will learn quick sketches for making stationery and longer processes to create a long project in the 8 weeks. A journal will help artists capture their watercolor experience and create a memory book of their treasured painting.
About Claire: Claire Lewis is a local artist who has most recently moved to College Station from Columbus, TX where she taught art to adults and children through the Live Oak Art Center in Columbus, TX, and for the Arts in Rural Texas (ARTS) programs in Fayetteville, TX. Her art has appeared in the Fayetteville Art Walk where she has won awards. She has had one-woman showings of her work at venues in Austin, Texas.
Claire has a BFA in painting and a BS in Art History from University of Central Florida in Orlando. She has studied painting, drawing, sculpture, fiber art, watercolor, design and color, printmaking, and art education in University of Texas college courses and in many workshops throughout her career as an artist. Claire has studied art in Mexico, France, and Italy.
