Amanda Sisk

Amanda J. Sisk has worked as an artist and educator for over two decades and has studied within the United States and Europe. An encounter with sculpture at the end of her undergraduate career marked the beginning of teaching figurative sculpture to the present date. Amanda has served as a mentor at the university and community levels as well as from her studio and in the studios of others. She has worked with youths in her government positions, including two seasons in service at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site (Cornish, NH), Langdon House (Portsmouth, NH), and Padre Island National Seashore (TX). A recipient of the National Sculpture Society’s Dexter Jones Award for bas-relief sculpture and The Gibbons Prize for New England Sculptors, her recent sculptural works include four collaborative monuments in marble for the city of Rutland, VT and an in-progress bronze commission in the state of New York. These public sculptures were committed to as a way to highlight individuals who made positive contributions to our world as well as to nurture the diversity and rejuvenation of community, cultural, and natural landscapes. The Bryan Artist Residency supports Amanda’s exploration of the human form in the context of uplifting contemplative works comprised of sustainable and repurposed materials.
