Summer Art Camps

The Arts Council is excited to provide another summer filled with opportunities for your child to explore their creative side and develop their artistic skills. This year’s camps will be offered weekly through June, July and August - registration is now open!
Each camp costs $200.00 and includes all taxes, fees, and supplies for the week!

Fine Arts Camp

Taught by Mark Martin
~ Students will learn basic drawing, painting, collage, and create super hero drawings.

Latin American & Ocean-themed Arts Camp

Taught by Dr. Rose Santos
~ Students will learn about Latin american art and create pieces inspired by Latin America, as well as oceanic themes.

Nature-Inspired Fine Arts Camp

July 15-19 | 9:00am-4:00pm | Ages 6-12

Taught by Navasota Artist in Residence, Rebecca Dias
~ Students will cultivate fine art skills through drawing, painting,

& mixed media art, with a focus on nature-inspired animal & landscape themes.

All camps will take place at The Arts Council, 4180 Highway 6 South in College Station. Snacks will be provided, but full-day campers will need to bring sack lunches.

About The Teachers

Dr. Rose Santos

Rose is an art educator who has worked in three different school districts teaching art at both the elementary and secondary levels over the past 14 years, currently teaching in Bryan I.S.D. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University, a Master of Science from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University -- College Station.

Mark Martin

Mark Martin is a three time published artist and poet in the Tarleton Anthology. With an accumulation of over 20 years of art installation and gallery management experience, Mark has gotten the opportunity to help curate the Dynamite Museum show held at the DMA 2013, as well as show his own work in over 20 shows in surrounding museum group exhibitions. With a degree in MFA Studio Arts, Mark has been an instructor at Blinn College, teaching 2D Studios, Arts History, and Art Appreciation since 2015.

Rebecca Dias

Rebecca Dias graduated from Scripps College in 2010 with a B.A. in Humanities: Interdisciplinary Studies in Culture, Concentration: Issues of Globalization. She is currently working on her M.A. in Business Design & Arts Leadership through Savannah College of Art and Design. Rebecca has taught art in the United States and abroad, including in Shanghai, China, where she also became a founding member of Basement 6 Art Collective. Most recently, Rebecca taught elementary art full-time in Scottsdale, Arizona. Currently, Rebecca is attending the ACBV Navasota-Artist-in-Residence program at the Horlock Gallery. She loves helping young artists to realize their talents and creativity through fine art!

Affiliate Programs

Unity Theatre’s Summer Drama & Performance Camps are a great way for your child to have fun and experience the joy and magic of live theatre. Drama Camp is offered July 9-13 (grades 2-3) and July 16-20 (grades 4-6). Performance Camp is offered July 16-29 (grades 4-6) and July 9-29 (grades 7-12).

Studying science and history helps your children to know and understand the world around them. The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History offers 10 weeks of Summer Nature from June 4 to August 17. Each session lasts one week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Camp sessions are divided into age groups (4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12).

Join the Navasota Theatre Alliance for their 9th year of comprehensive child and teen summer theatre camps. Campers will be immersed in all aspects of theatre arts including acting, lighting, sound, costuming and more! Youth camps are offered in two sessions: June 4-8 (grades 2-6) and July 9-20 (grades 7-12).

Children will be able to explore their creative side with one of the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley’s fantastic summer programs! Camps are offered in seven sessions for anywhere from Art Lab to Little Chefs. Camps begin May 29 and continue through August 17.
