Classes held Thursdays from 4:15 - 5:45PM at the Arts Center
For young artists ages 6-11 (must be 6 by the time class starts)
Cost: $150 for 12-week semester or $80 for 6-weeks (cost includes all supplies and taxes)
Sept 13 & 20: Kandinsky Abstract Designs
Kids will follow directions of drawing various lines and shapes on a large paper then trace them with permanent marker. Then using a permanent marker to trace their designs and add color using oil pastels and watercolor paints.
Sept 27 & Oct 4: Handmade Paper Project
Kids will create their own paper from recycled scraps with papermaking molds. Then they will create projects inspired by their works. When their handmade paper completely dry, students will experiment with painting, drawing and collage on the paper.
Oct 11 & 18: In- and Outdoor Landscape Drawings & Paintings
Learning basic composition of foreground, middle ground, and background from landscape. Overview of color wheel and how to mix color and then paint an entire 12 in. x 16 in. canvas. Students will experience an outdoor-drawing activity to create an original fall leaves/ trees landscape sketch from their observations. Then, they will come back and paint in the studio.
Oct 25 & Nov 1: Paper Collage Arts
Students will learn about paper collage techniques with mixed media arts. On Oct, 25, we will create spooky collage because Halloween is coming! Then, we will do Space Art Collage on Nov, 1.
Nov 8 &15: Creative Air Dry Clay
Working with 3D shapes. Using non-toxic and eco-friendly clay, kids will create a variety of forms with designs in food themes. Students will also learn about a world-renowned American artist, Wayne Thiebaud whose works inspired from food, dessert, and drinks.
Nov 29 & Dec 6: Paintings inspired by the sky
Kids will create a variety of sky paintings using mixed media on paper and canvas. We will explore famous artists works and their sky such as Van Gogh’s Starry Night, Claude Monet’s impression, Sunrise and more!
