Co-operated by the Arts Council of Brazos Valley and the Brazos Valley Art League, the Texas Gallery hosts up to sixteen exhibitions of Texas artists' original works of art annually. Past showcases included individual artists, Special Olympics athletes, scholarship recipients, Arts Council of Brazos Valley Artist in Residence and Brazos Valley Art League members.

The current exibition , Larry May's Digital Paintbrush—Painting with Light, opens July 8 with a reception at 5:30 pm. The event is free to the public.

Digital Paintbrush—Painting with Light highlights May’s forty-year love of photography with fifty pieces of his work on display. “I am fortunate to be able to travel extensively and capture photographs that lend themselves to [what I call the photographic painting] process” says May.

According to May, his final result is achieved by adding and refining filter effects and color palettes until he reaches an image that shows the scene that originally appealed to him and then moves that image to a “painting-like” final product. May’s work focuses on nature scenes in the western United States, but also includes some unexpected surprises for the viewer.

Images on display (similar to the ones below) will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Brazos Valley Art League. The show will be on display through the end of July.
