Meeting as the local chapter of national organization, the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists, the Aggieland Rug Artists strive to promote the knowledge of rug hooking and to promote friendship and knowledge among the members.

American Guild of Organists

 

The purpose of the AGO is to advance the cause of organ and choral music, to promote their understanding and enjoyment, and to improve the proficiency of organists and choral conductors.

 

Armstrong/Bergeron Dance Company

 

The Armstrong/Bergeron Dance Company (ABDC) is a modern dance company dedicated to the creation and performance of modern dance. Artistic Directors, Carisa Armstrong and Christine Bergeron, have been choreographing professionally since 1998 and have been collaborating together since moving to Bryan, TX in 2003. Their work has been critically and popularly acclaimed in Texas, Ohio, Illinois, and Florida and been described as moving, clever, athletic, and skewed. The Company also offers workshops in modern dance technique, creative movement, choreography, improvisation, pilates, and yoga.

 

Brazos Bluebonnet Quilt Guild

 

The purpose of the Brazos Bluebonnet Quilt Guild is to stimulate an interest in quilts, to preserve existing quilts, to promote quilting, to educate quiltmakers, and to advance the art of quiltmaking through continuing education services for members, public education activities, and professional and artisan development programs

 

Brazos Heritage Society

 

Brazos Heritage Society is a non-profit educational and civic organization dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of Brazos County.

 

Brazos Spinners and Weavers

 

The Guild was organized to encourage creative hand weaving and spinning by extending the technical skills and awareness of the members and to promote public appreciation of the art of spinning and weaving.

 

Brazos Valley African American Museum

 

The Brazos Valley African American Museum is the official repository of artifacts, oral history, media reports and other important historical source material for the African Americans who settled and lived in the Brazos Valley of Texas. It is a living museum that reflects the rich diversity of the historical and cultural legacy, present and promise of African Americans in Texas.

 

Brazos Valley Art League

 

The BVAL is a visual arts group interested in learning, experiencing, sharing, educating and meeting with others of common interest.

 

Brazos Valley Chorale

 

The Brazos Valley Chorale is the preeminent choral organization in the region and is know for performing a wide range of classical and contemporary choral literature.

 

Brazos Valley Fesival of African American Art

 

Brazos Valley Festival of African Art is a no-alcohol, family-oriented event presented free to the public in cooperation with its sponsors. A unique opportunity for celebration, renewal, reunion, communion and cultural exchange, it strengthens and unites the community in recognition of local artistic talent, while providing education and increased awareness respecting the arts, culture, history, heritage and vitality of Brazos Valley citizens of African descent.

 

Brazos Valley Knitting Guild

 

Brazos Valley Knitting Guild is a local chapter of The Knitting Guild of America (TKGA). The group consists of members of all skill levels from beginners to experts, all ages, male & female! The Guild does several community service knitting projects for various organizations through the Brazos Valley as well.

 

Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History

 

Begun primarily as a children's museum, the Brazos Valley Museum today provides programs and exhibits for all ages which explore the special relationship between the natural and cultural environments of the Brazos Valley.

 

Brazos Valley Music Teachers Association

 

Organized in 1956, the Music Teachers Association exists to promote higher professional standards, better ethical practices, and improved methods in the teaching of music.

 

Brazos Valley Stitchers

 

The group's purpose is to promote the cooperation and interchange of ideas by those engaged or interested in needlework, to maintain high standards of design, technique and instruction, to encourage creativity and to stimulate interest in the community.

 

Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra

 

The mission of the Brazos Valley Symphony is to maintain a symphony of high artistic standards, and to promote the musical arts for cultural and educational purposes throughout the Brazos Valley. Each year the BVSO performs a variety of classical subscription, free outdoor, and children's concerts.

 

Brazos Valley T.R.O.U.P.E.

 

The Brazos Valley T.R.O.U.P.E. strives to serve its community by entertaining lovers of the arts, enhancing the support of the arts in the Brazos Valley, and educating young artists through creative entertainment that presents positive images and creates a positive experience for both performers and patrons.

 

Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial

 

The Memorial for all Veterans of the Brazos Valley, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that was born out of the acknowledged need for a dignified recognition of the service and sacrifices made by men and women of the Brazos Valley while serving in the uniformed services of this great nation.

 

Brazos Valley Wearable Arts

 

The Brazos Valley Wearable Arts mission is to enhance our abilities and creativity in the field of wearable art by providing a forum for members to learn, critique and share ideas. Meetings consist of lectures, demonstrations or workshops to stimulate and inspire personal expression with fabric. Guests are welcome to attend meetings on the fourth Tuesday of January through October.

 

Brazos Valley World Fest

 

The Brazos Valley Worldfest celebrates international awareness by offering cultural displays, demonstrations, international cuisine, performances, children's crafts, educational competitions and many other activities. This event is free and open to the public.

 

Brazos Writers

 

Brazos Writers seeks to provide leadership in filling the needs of writers in the Brazos Valley through information, promotion, cooperation and support.

 

Brenham Children’s Chorus

 

The mission of the Brenham Children's Chorus is to help children achieve high artistic standards through singing and performance. They promote the nurturing and growth of discipline, responsibility, teamwork and self-confidence.

 

Bridal Association of the Brazos Valley

 

The Bridal Association of the Brazos Valley exists to educate the general public and coordinate the efforts of the Brazos Valley area businesses in the planning of weddings, bridal arrangements, and services. It includes, but is not limited to an annual show and banquet. The bridal show is held as a benefit to a local area charity.

 

 The Burton Cotton Gin & Museum

 

The museum collections can provide an active and vital setting in which to explore the vernacular mechanical achievements of typical local users and adapters of mass-produced machines,engines, tools, and vehicles during the first two thirds of the twentieth century. The setting of Burton, Texas, in Washington County, also offers an outstanding opportunity to compare the changes that accompanied mechanization amongst German-, English-, Czech-, and African-American cotton farmers.

 

Calvert Chamber of Commerce

 

Existing to promote the City of Calvert, tourism, member business, and member organization while encouraging area residents and visitors to patronize and support those businesses and organizations, the chamber has several programs it puts on annually including the Victorian Festival in October and the Christmas Homes Tour, promoting the culture and heritage of the city.

 

The Calvert Women's Club

 

The Calvert Women’s Club was organized in 1939 to foster literary study, mutual improvement and helpfulness towards others. Today the club is reaching beyond their expected activities, to preserve the unique history of the American Women’s League in Calvert and restore the chapter house they built so it can be marketed as a tourist destination site known as the Katy Hamman-Stricker Heritage Tourism Center.

 

The Children's Museum of the Brazos Valley

 

The Children's Museum provides a child-centered, hands-on, interactive environment for discovery and learning for children and families.

 

Creative Writing Divison

 

The Creative Writing Division of Texas A&M's English Department offers graduate and undergraduate tracks in creative writing and offers a creative thesis and a creative dissertation option at the graduate level. We also work to produce local events and sponsor readers that will be of interest to community members and students alike. Last year, with the help of the ACVB and many other on and off-campus organizations, we held the Southwest Writers' and Artists' Festival; this year many other local projects are underway.

 

Cushing Memorial Library

 

The Cushing Memorial Library and Archives is the rare books, special collections, manuscripts, and archival repository for Texas A&M University Libraries. The collections of the Cushing Library reflect the comprehensive nature of the educational and research enterprise at A&M as well as the wide diversity of interests found among current and former students, faculty, staff and friends.  By preserving and making these collections accessible, the Cushing Library, like the University, seeks to promote intellectual inquiry, cultural enrichment, and the creation and dissemination research and new knowledge.  The Library serves the students and faculty of Texas A&M as well as the community of scholarship, learning, and culture beyond the physical boundaries of the campus.

 

Downtown Bryan Economic Development Association

 

Downtown Bryan Economic Development Association is a private, non-for-profit association created to revitalize and maintain the commercial and aesthetic viability of the historic business district of Downtown Bryan.The Association envisions a vibrant historic business district and accentuates the uniqueness and diversity of the community while maintaining the historic integrity of the past amidst a multi-use business/residential environment.

 

Friends of the Bryan College Station Public Library System

 

These volunteers support the library branches and provide funds for books, equipment, and programs not covered in the library's budget.

 

Friends of Chamber Music

 

The Friends of Chamber Music mission is to provide concerts of chamber music through support of the Community Chamber Concerts series together with outreach music workshops, lectures, demonstrations, and master classes for the participation of all people. FCM strives to foster a sensitive atmosphere of audience-artist interaction and sharing that helps to make accessible musical treasures of our cultural heritage.

 

Friends of the Sterling C. Evans  Library

 

Distinguished Alumni Sterling C. Evans and Jeff C. Dykes, graduates of the Class of 1921, co-founded the Friends of the Texas A&M University Libraries in 1970. At the first meeting in fall 1971, the Friends elected Evans president. Dykes prepared a keepsake entitled My Dobie Collection. He and his daughter Martha Dykes Goldsmith, then donated over 600 items relating to J. Frank Dobie. The organization later was incorporated as the Friends of the Sterling C. Evans Library. Today it supports the five libraries that comprise the Texas A&M University Libraries.

 

George Bush Presidential Library and Museum

 

The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum is dedicated to sponsoring programs and exhibits that benefit students of all grade levels. They are committed to creating an exciting and open educational environment where every student can learn more about our nation's past. The wide range of activities includes tours, interactive displays, Museum Classroom programs, and family activities.

 

James Dick Foundation for the Performing Arts

The International Festival-Institute at Round Top

 

Over a thirty seven year period and with the help of its patrons and friends, The James Dick Foundation for the Performing Arts has developed superb year round education and performance programs. It has created also an unique 210-acre campus - Festival Hill - containing major performance facilities, historic houses, extensive gardens, parks and nature preserves. Through its singular collection of rare books, manuscripts, archival material, music and historic recordings, photographs and objects, the Festival-Institute is also known as an important center for research and scholarly study.

 

KAMU-TV

& KAMU FM

 

KAMU- TV is a public television station that offers more than 5000 hours of local and PBS broadcasting yearly. KAMU-FM, an NPR affiliate, provides area residents with over 6500 hours of classical, jazz, public affairs, news and dramatic programs each year.

 

Keep Brazos Beautiful

 

The mission of Keep Brazos Beautiful is to educate and engage the citizens of Brazos County to keep their communities clean and beautiful. They promote public interest, individual responsibility, community action and pride in Brazos County.

 

KEOS Brazos Educational Radio

 

KEOS, Brazos Educational Radio, is committed to the creation of musical, cultural, and informational radio broadcasting by and for a public of diverse cultures, ages, income levels, and backgrounds that are under-served and under-represented by other area media.

 

MSC Forsyth Center Galleries

 

The mission of the MSC Forsyth Center Galleries is to provide the visual arts to the students, staff, faculty, and visitors of Texas A&M University, and to support the research, presentation, and understanding of American and English art and art glass.

 

MSC OPAS

 

MSC OPAS is a functioning committee of the MSC Council and Directorate which presents outstanding classical artists of national and international prestige.

 

MSC Visual Arts Committee

 

The MSC Visual Arts Committee (VAC) exists to increase student awareness and appreciation for the visual arts. VAC offers students practical experience in the care of art while bringing a wide variety of art exhibits to the students, campus and community of Texas A&M University through the student-led Visual Arts Gallery as well as other venues.

 

Museum of American GI

 

The Museum of the American G.I. began in 2001 with an inventory of muitple award-winning artifacts of American military history. The goal of the museum is to be a repository of restored, working military vehicles used by the United States and to display the vehicles in action.

 

Navasota Blues Festival

 

In 1996 the idea for the Navasota Blues Festival, Inc. was born. The founding of the Navasota Blues Festival was inspired by the example of Mance Lipscomb's musicianship and his gracious character. 

 

Navasota/Grimes County Chamber of Commerce

 

The Chamber of Commerce facilitates local business connections in the community as well as works to promote Navasota Blues Fest, Washington on the Brazos, and Navasota Theatre Alliance. They also are reviving ‘Navasota Nostalgia Days’ in 2009.

Navasota Theater Alliance

 

The group was formed to involve Navasota residents in the performing arts, to present professional touring companies to the community and to aid in the revitalization of the historic downtown area.

 

Office of University Art Collections & Exhibitions & Docents

 

This group was formed to increase the awareness of visual arts in the Brazos Valley and provide guided lecture tours of the changing and permanent exhibits at Texas A&M University.

OPAS Guild

 

 OPAS Guild is the support group of the Opera and Performing Arts Society dedicated to educating the public about the performing arts, raising funding for OPAS and OPAS Jr. and promoting OPAS programs.

 

Robertson County Historical Commission

 

The Robertson County Historical Commission shares a common interest in preserving local history and providing residents with educating opportunities to explore their past. They strongly support economic development through heritage tourism. To this end, they are actively involved in the restoration of several important historical buildings to improve travel destinations.

 

ROLL CALL Friends of Camp Hearne

 

 

Roll Call: Friends Of Camp Hearne is dedicated to preserving and commemorating information about historic Camp Hearne, the former prisoner of war camp located in Hearne, Texas.  The purpose of the federal/state historic Camp Hearne site shall be the identification, protection, preservation, and interpretation of the history of Camp Hearne, its archeological sites, and its bearing on the wartime participation of servicemen and citizens in the United States.

Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth

 

SPICMACAY promotes awareness and appreciation for Indian Classical art forms in the Brazos Valley community.

 

StageCenter

 

StageCenter strives to enrich the cultural base of the Bryan/College Station stage area by providing live theatre of the quality and variety it has offered for the past 33 years. They offer opportunities for residents of the Brazos Valley to participate in all aspects of the theatre as well as outreach activities in area schools, city parks, historical events, and area business.

 

Star of the Republic Museum

 

An educational institution, the Star of the Republic Museum interprets the history of the Republic of Texas and its influences. Interpretation is conducted through exhibits, school and group programs, media programs, and community programs. The Museum collects and preserves artifacts to implement the programs and extensively researches to ensure authenticity of the collections and presentation.

 

TAMU Department of Performance Studies

 

The Music Program is a part of the Department of Performance Studies at Texas A&M University. Besides offering courses through the University, the Music Program presents concerts and events such as the Texas Music Festival and the Aggie Encore Music Series.

 

TAMU Women's Club Fine Arts Interest Group

 

The Fine Arts Club program emphasis is on music, theater, and art to foster the artistic endeavors. In addition to monthly meetings, a "Special Event" is held each year.

 

TAMU Visualization Laboratory

 

The Viz Lab prepares students for long-term careers in visualization, includes an active program in research and creative endeavors, supports visualization projects, and acts as a center of visualization expertise. The Viz Lab presents its exhibition and showcase of animation and graphics, Vizagogo, once a year.

The Theatre Company, formerly known as 'magination Station, is a non-profit theater offering quality stage experiences for adults and young people. The collections of the Cushing Library reflect the comprehensive nature of the educational and research enterprise at A&M as well as the wide diversity of interests found among current and former students, faculty, staff and friends.  By preserving and making these collections accessible, the Cushing Library, like the University, seeks to promote intellectual inquiry, cultural enrichment, and the creation and dissemination research and new knowledge.  The Library serves the students and faculty of Texas A&M as well as the community of scholarship, learning, and culture beyond the physical boundaries of the campus.

 

Downtown Bryan Economic Development Association

 

Downtown Bryan Economic Development Association is a private, non-for-profit association created to revitalize and maintain the commercial and aesthetic viability of the historic business district of Downtown Bryan.The Association envisions a vibrant historic business district and accentuates the uniqueness and diversity of the community while maintaining the historic integrity of the past amidst a multi-use business/residential environment.

 

Friends of the Bryan College Station Public Library System

 

These volunteers support the library branches and provide funds for books, equipment, and programs not covered in the library's budget.

 

Friends of Chamber Music

 

The Friends of Chamber Music mission is to provide concerts of chamber music through support of the Community Chamber Concerts series together with outreach music workshops, lectures, demonstrations, and master classes for the participation of all people. FCM strives to foster a sensitive atmosphere of audience-artist interaction and sharing that helps to make accessible musical treasures of our cultural heritage.

 

Friends of the Sterling C. Evans  Library

 

Distinguished Alumni Sterling C. Evans and Jeff C. Dykes, graduates of the Class of 1921, co-founded the Friends of the Texas A&M University Libraries in 1970. At the first meeting in fall 1971, the Friends elected Evans president. Dykes prepared a keepsake entitled My Dobie Collection. He and his daughter Martha Dykes Goldsmith, then donated over 600 items relating to J. Frank Dobie. The organization later was incorporated as the Friends of the Sterling C. Evans Library. Today it supports the five libraries that comprise the Texas A&M University Libraries.

 

George Bush Presidential Library and Museum

 

The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum is dedicated to sponsoring programs and exhibits that benefit students of all grade levels. They are committed to creating an exciting and open educational environment where every student can learn more about our nation's past. The wide range of activities includes tours, interactive displays, Museum Classroom programs, and family activities.

 

James Dick Foundation for the Performing Arts

The International Festival-Institute at Round Top

 

Over a thirty seven year period and with the help of its patrons and friends, The James Dick Foundation for the Performing Arts has developed superb year round education and performance programs. It has created also an unique 210-acre campus - Festival Hill - containing major performance facilities, historic houses, extensive gardens, parks and nature preserves. Through its singular collection of rare books, manuscripts, archival material, music and historic recordings, photographs and objects, the Festival-Institute is also known as an important center for research and scholarly study.

 

KAMU-TV

& KAMU FM

 

KAMU- TV is a public television station that offers more than 5000 hours of local and PBS broadcasting yearly. KAMU-FM, an NPR affiliate, provides area residents with over 6500 hours of classical, jazz, public affairs, news and dramatic programs each year.

 

Keep Brazos Beautiful

 

The mission of Keep Brazos Beautiful is to educate and engage the citizens of Brazos County to keep their communities clean and beautiful. They promote public interest, individual responsibility, community action and pride in Brazos County.

 

KEOS Brazos Educational Radio

 

KEOS, Brazos Educational Radio, is committed to the creation of musical, cultural, and informational radio broadcasting by and for a public of diverse cultures, ages, income levels, and backgrounds that are under-served and under-represented by other area media.

 

MSC Forsyth Center Galleries

 

The mission of the MSC Forsyth Center Galleries is to provide the visual arts to the students, staff, faculty, and visitors of Texas A&M University, and to support the research, presentation, and understanding of American and English art and art glass.

 

MSC OPAS

 

MSC OPAS is a functioning committee of the MSC Council and Directorate which presents outstanding classical artists of national and international prestige.

 

MSC Visual Arts Committee

 

The MSC Visual Arts Committee (VAC) exists to increase student awareness and appreciation for the visual arts. VAC offers students practical experience in the care of art while bringing a wide variety of art exhibits to the students, campus and community of Texas A&M University through the student-led Visual Arts Gallery as well as other venues.

 

Museum of American GI

 

The Museum of the American G.I. began in 2001 with an inventory of muitple award-winning artifacts of American military history. The goal of the museum is to be a repository of restored, working military vehicles used by the United States and to display the vehicles in action.

 

Navasota Blues Festival

 

In 1996 the idea for the Navasota Blues Festival, Inc. was born. The founding of the Navasota Blues Festival was inspired by the example of Mance Lipscomb's musicianship and his gracious character. 

 

Navasota/Grimes County Chamber of Commerce

 

The Chamber of Commerce facilitates local business connections in the community as well as works to promote Navasota Blues Fest, Washington on the Brazos, and Navasota Theatre Alliance. They also are reviving ‘Navasota Nostalgia Days’ in 2009.

Navasota Theater Alliance

 

The group was formed to involve Navasota residents in the performing arts, to present professional touring companies to the community and to aid in the revitalization of the historic downtown area.

 

Office of University Art Collections & Exhibitions & Docents

 

This group was formed to increase the awareness of visual arts in the Brazos Valley and provide guided lecture tours of the changing and permanent exhibits at Texas A&M University.

OPAS Guild

 

 OPAS Guild is the support group of the Opera and Performing Arts Society dedicated to educating the public about the performing arts, raising funding for OPAS and OPAS Jr. and promoting OPAS programs.

 

Robertson County Historical Commission

 

The Robertson County Historical Commission shares a common interest in preserving local history and providing residents with educating opportunities to explore their past. They strongly support economic development through heritage tourism. To this end, they are actively involved in the restoration of several important historical buildings to improve travel destinations.

 

ROLL CALL Friends of Camp Hearne

 

 

Roll Call: Friends Of Camp Hearne is dedicated to preserving and commemorating information about historic Camp Hearne, the former prisoner of war camp located in Hearne, Texas.  The purpose of the federal/state historic Camp Hearne site shall be the identification, protection, preservation, and interpretation of the history of Camp Hearne, its archeological sites, and its bearing on the wartime participation of servicemen and citizens in the United States.

StageCenter strives to enrich the cultural base of the Bryan/College Station stage area by providing live theatre of the quality and variety it has offered for the past 33 years. They offer opportunities for residents of the Brazos Valley to participate in all aspects of the theatre as well as outreach activities in area schools, city parks, historical events, and area business.

 

Star of the Republic Museum

 

An educational institution, the Star of the Republic Museum interprets the history of the Republic of Texas and its influences. Interpretation is conducted through exhibits, school and group programs, media programs, and community programs. The Museum collects and preserves artifacts to implement the programs and extensively researches to ensure authenticity of the collections and presentation.

 

TAMU Department of Performance Studies

 

The Music Program is a part of the Department of Performance Studies at Texas A&M University. Besides offering courses through the University, the Music Program presents concerts and events such as the Texas Music Festival and the Aggie Encore Music Series.

 

TAMU Women's Club Fine Arts Interest Group

 

The Fine Arts Club program emphasis is on music, theater, and art to foster the artistic endeavors. In addition to monthly meetings, a "Special Event" is held each year.

 

TAMU Visualization Laboratory

 

The Viz Lab prepares students for long-term careers in visualization, includes an active program in research and creative endeavors, supports visualization projects, and acts as a center of visualization expertise. The Viz Lab presents its exhibition and showcase of animation and graphics, Vizagogo, once a year.

University Summer Performance Series
